Yoanna Dzhokanova

Yoanna Dzhokanova is a clinical psychologist who works from a psychodynamic perspective. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology: A Psychoanalytic Perspective from New Bulgarian University. She has specialist training in psychoanalytic psychosomatics.

Much of her professional experience comes from medical institutions and social services. She has worked with children in family-type residential care centres, young people without parental care and adults in vulnerable circumstances. Her practical experience also includes placements in methadone treatment services, psychiatric clinics and neurology.

She works with anxiety, difficulties related to depression, burnout, existential questions and feelings of dissatisfaction. Her practice also includes people seeking lasting change. A substantial part of her work involves psychosomatic concerns.

She currently practises as a clinical psychologist at Nadezhda Hospital.
